Our Single Board Computer offering may be divided into two basic categories, those having ARM type architecture and the rest.
Suitable baseboards are available for both product families, these being designed to handle the physical connections and various I/O signals required for a complete System-On-Module. In addition, for high volume projects, customised solutions can also be provided.
The ARM and Intel XScale products come preinstalled with Windows CE or Linux and are ideal for driving smaller displays, particularly those having resolutions of up to 640 x 480 pixels; or, in the case of the PicoCOM, for use in simple communications applications where no display is required.
The Intel Pentium, AMD LX and VIA V4 products have the superior processing power required for driving higher resolution displays and are supplied in various standard form factors - COM Express, ETX and STX. As an added convenience, on selected hardware platforms, popular operating systems such as Windows XP Embedded and Linux can be preinstalled.
Where a cased product is required we can also offer a range of fanless systems.The armStoneA8 (100 x 72 mm) does not require a baseboard which means overall costs are reduced and development time is shortened significantly. The product offers all common interfaces including LVDS, DVI or HDMI to cater for a wide range of displays. Its PicoITX form factor is perfect for small but powerful applications such as compact portable devices. The board requires only a single 5V power supply and at the standard CPU speed can be run without a fan or cooling element. The armStoneA8 is shipped with a pre-installed operating system: at present WCE, WEC7 (including Microsoft license) or Linux are available but Android and others will follow later.
The QBlissA8 is designed to conform to the new Qseven TM form factor. Many Qseven products incorporate an Intel ATOM CPU whereas the QBlissA8 employs RISC technology to dramatically reduce power consumption, shorten boot time and allow the use of cost-effective operating systems such as Windows Embedded Compact 7 or Linux. The Cortex A8 CPU offers high performance and support for multimedia functions on the chip. Colour TFT displays and monitors can be connected via the inbuilt LVDS or HDMI interfaces.
The NetDCU (100 x 80 mm) can display text and dynamically redefinable graphics simultaneously; and character sets ranging from 5x6 to 60x24 pixels are already integrated. Connections to input devices are made via standard interfaces and the universal LCD output is capable of driving many popular graphical displays.
PicoMOD (80 x 50 mm) products incorporate similar core functionality to those of the NetDCU range but are packaged in a highly cost effective credit card sized from factor.
The PicoCOM (50 x 40 mm) is a small and inexpensive communications module with an integrated operating system and a broad range of standard interfaces.
The COM Express (125 X 95 mm) is a Computer-On-Module, packaged as a super component, with all the attributes necessary for a bootable host computer. This product is designed for ISA-free architecture and provides a smooth transition path from Legacy parallel interfaces to LVDS (Low Voltage Differential Signalling). Its small physical size makes it ideal for mobile systems and any other space-constrained applications.
The ETX module (114 x 95 mm) also integrates the core CPU and memory with a broad range of peripheral functions such as graphics and audio, together with USB, serial / parallel ports and Ethernet, as well as a full implementation of PCI and ISA buses.
The STX (96 x 90 mm) is a general purpose C-O-M with a PC/104 compliant form factor, again with PCI and ISA buses.
